According to a forecast recently released by Database Central Europe (www.databasece.com), in 2008 strong growth of labour costs continued throughout Central and Eastern Europe. However, stagnating nominal wages and depreciation of local currencies should reverse that trend this year, thus improving the region’s competitiveness. + more

Seventh edition of report on labour costs in Central and Eastern Europe.
 
Published annually since 2003 the report is a recognised source of labour-related data, analysis and forecasts.

The 2009 Edition is being published in a new format with more emphasis on comparative analysis and on visual presentation of data. Published in the midst of the crisis it explicitly deals with the impact of the global economic crisis on the competitiveness of the region’s labour costs.

The report provides the most up-to-date picture of labour cost levels and trends in the region, based on the latest available data and estimates by Database CE.

An essential part of the report is a five-year forecast of labour costs and earnings trends in the region’s 13 economies.

The report contains:
  • Comparative analysis of average earnings, labour costs and labour-related taxes.
  • Analysis of earnings and costs on a regional level, by sectors of the economy and by sub-sectors of the manufacturing sector.
  • Analysis of economic, labour market and exchange rates trends influencing labour cost developments in the region.
  • A unique forecast of labour costs and earnings in a five-year period perspective until 2013.
